"Bret came to our attention with his portraits of us playing on the acoustic stage at the Stamford Riverside Festival. Unknown to us as we played, with a very quick eye and without knowing us or our music he captured our performance with startling accuracy and wit. We were amazed to see ourselves as the audience do, and really excited by the idea of commissioning a portfolio by him
We arranged two photo-shoots with the aim of portraying us as musicians in a variety of environments, the emphasis being on natural light and surroundings. We wanted a collection of photographs which we could use on advertising material and on a CD, and it was very important that the images reflected our music and personalities with imagination but above all honesty. The end result is a set of superb photographs taken in rural Lincolnshire and the beautiful Georgian town of Stamford, where we both spend many hours walking and playing respectively
Working with Bret was easy; he immediately understood what we were hoping to achieve and set about his work efficiently and above all without any stress! He made us feel at ease, and was open to all our ideas as well as guiding us with a photographers' eye. We are extremely pleased with the results of his work and would keenly recommend him as an imaginative and sensitive artist.
